Does hypnosis strike you as absurd and silly? You laugh it off as something only practiced by new age types. Maybe you fear it because you think people can make you rob banks or participate in a whole host of illegal activities. Relax you need not fear, the human mind in a powerful thing. So, why not use your mind to heal itself? It can be done.

There are many misconceptions about hypnosis, just like there are many misconceptions about depression.

Maybe you've found out that you fit the terms of clinically depressed. Of course you don't have to deal with it alone. You can also choose how to manage treatment of your depression. Anti-depressants are not the only way to treat depression, educate yourself, ask questions. Most of all learn.

As a professional hypnotist, I have helped many people with their problems. It started with my wanting to lose weight. After a tireless search and hours of reading and more fad diets than I can count. Then I did something that would change my life, I read a book on self hypnosis. After helping myself to lose the weight, I continued my study. Eventually, I received certification as a hypnotist.

That's how I met Layla a thirty year old college student who had such severe depression she would have to stop attending classes until she got "better", only to wind up starting the cycle all over again. Layla had tried in vain to get better permanently. Her therapist proscribed every drug he could think to help her. Shock Treatment was the only option, until Layla called me.

In just six sessions, I was able to help her get an improved self image and even work through some deep emotional issues. I know for a fact depression can be lessened by hypnosis.

This not to say you should use hypnosis on its own. Always consult your doctor before seeking other forms of treatment. Many therapists are trained in hypnosis and will welcome the chance to use it to help you. Some therapists maybe impressed that you would rather seek this radical treatment instead of taking drugs. If you need to seek an outside hypnotist, I can not stress this enough, make sure the hypnotist is certified and be sure to check references. Make sure your therapist knows you are seeking this method of treatment. If you can make sure they work together. Don't forget to tell anyone who is treating you if your symptoms get worse. Lastly there is no quick fix or permanent solution to healing depression. It really is a life long battle. Hypnosis can help you work through many issues combined with therapy it will be a long term healthier treatment plan.
