If you think the other countries have more to offer than your own, chances are you have not traveled around your own country. The world is an exciting place and there are many awesome places you should see but traveling in your own country will provide you with the experience needed for international travel within a safety net. Traveling your own country will also provide you with a lot of interesting information about your history and will show you things that you never knew about your own country.

Previous travel experience is invaluable when traveling internationally. International travel involves many risks physically, mentally and financially. When traveling you must expect things to go wrong and be prepared for them, traveling your own country is the best way to do this. There are lots of ways to lose all your money; these may be by losing or having a stolen wallet, over spending or a multitude of other reasons. It is best to experience this close to home as you can call on friends or families to help you out, this may not be an easy option internationally. Travel can be draining physically and mentally, if you have a breakdown of either sorts while being in your own countries you can easily call on the support of your social network or can visit a specialist at much cheaper rates compared to overseas. Most problems won't be experienced while traveling around your country, but the ones that do will enable to you be able to cope with other problems that arise over seas.

No matter where you are in the world, you have exciting plant and animal life. Traveling around your country will allow you to see many animals you have never seen without the need to go abroad. You may be surprised to learn there are many beautiful species around your country than you have never heard of, I am sure this is true for most countries.

When you travel around your own country you are likely to meet tourists from other countries. These people are great to talk to and get travel advice from. They will give you information about where to go within their own countries and can give great advice on what to do and see that no travel book can. They will also have advice about how to do things in their respective countries cheaply.

When I traveled from New Zealand to work in New Jersey for three months I got asked many questions about New Zealand. I was able to answer most of them, but a lot were about places I have never been to. Knowing more about your own country will enable you to have better discussions with people in other countries.

Learn to travel safe and smart in your own country. Be ready to talk about your country when traveling. Enjoy your own country and then enjoy the world.
