Understanding cats and their body language

Created on: May 19, 2008

Never ever turn down the invitation to enter the world of a cat because only the privileged and honored are truly welcomed via the hypnotic twist and twirls of a cat on its back, begging you for a tummy rub!

Know this that not everyone is given the opportunity to rub a cat's tummy or play with the mesmerizing swishes of its tail.

Keep in mind that not everyone is given the warm welcome of a leg rub with tails swagging in the air when they return from home.

Bear knowledge that not everyone is given the sacred cuddle treatment by an adoring feline friend and in the currency of love and admiration, this is the highest remuneration anyone can ever get.

Indeed, these mysterious yet beautifully intelligent creatures gleefully pick their owners, and to be considered on par with them, is the greatest achievement anyone can ever dream of.

Its never easy trying to earn the affection of a cat, but if you truly understand the psychology that they play by, you'll soon find out that there is plenty to learn in the art of relationship from them.

Like how a cat nonchalantly straddles on the morning paper that you're reading, or flipping away at the pages of your homework - while you're still finishing it, a cat merely teases you while you're busy stressing yourself, reminding you the need to relax and have fun once in a while.

If a cat comes up to you and lies on its side, stretching its paws and wagging its tail, then it means that she would probably have had the same rough day as you and needs a back rub, just like you do!

But when she is alert, tails lashing left and right aggressively and body in a pouncing position, it means she's going to have one hell of a time, whether you like it or not - because sometimes in life, you just have to take things as they come and face the music of life.

A slight movement up ahead is only an invitation for her to leap and pounce on her unsuspecting enemy, and once she does, she will joyfully prance away in her usual catwalk, in self admission of pride and a job well done.

But of course, a cat is not all play and fun, cos they sure now when you're not having a good day, as they'll cuddle up to you and just sit on your lap, looking at you adoringly, trying to share your pain and ease the moment.

With such conviction from a cat, you can be sure that there will be plenty of moments like these, and these moments are truly gratifying justifications as to how rewarding the invitation to enter a cat's world can be.
