When I saw this debate I thought to myself that this wouldn't be much of a debate at all. In fact thirty-nine percent of people voted yes and I'm shocked. Let me ask you a question. Do you know of any historical event that would last if it was not documented? Really, do you? Okay now that you ponder could you think of anything. If you did I'm expecting you were there when it happened. The bible is the books that has sold more than any other. Yet there are people who still don't know what it says. Now if the bible wasn't around, then what would we have. People many times than not have compared it to the Easter bunny, Santa Clause, and the tooth fairy. Someone told me just today that God was my imaginary friend. The only difference between a seven year olds imaginary friend and mine is that a seven year old can admit that it's not real.
With the world today because more and more anti-religious it's no wonder to me that if the bible did not exist, neither would my personal relationship with Christ. I hate to say it, but I highly doubt there would be such a thing as Christianity. It pains me to understand how I can see myself without God. But what good would I being doing to lie. The bible speaks truth. It lays down the foundation that as a Christian is essential to life itself. It is our daily bread. Our sword. Something we can't live without.
The fact that people would even consider Christianity surviving without the bible is ludicrous. Christians' whether you agree or not ask yourself this question. Without the bible how would you have any information about what you believe? Keep in mind that pastors would not have a job, there would be no other religious books based off the bible, because there would be no bible, and most of all there would be no church. It's a chilling thought. I know. But do you see point. The bible is what informs us. It's what makes us who we are. It's what makes me who I am. There's nothing more to it. As I said before, I can not lie.
To be honest, most of my life my mother has told me story from the bible. It wasn't until recently I opened it myself. Yet the seed was planted. By what though? My mother? Well lets look at that for a moment. Yes she did tell me the stories, but where did she get them. The bible. I wouldn't know who God was if it were not for the bible playing a huge role in my life. What about you? If the bible wasn't here. Would you still be a Christian? If yes, then why? That's not something I can answer for you. Only you know that. So think on it. Would you be?
