Health benefits of cinnamon and honey

Combining cinnamon and honey might sound like a tasteful treat, but their health benefits far exceed their tastiness. Each of these foods have benefits when eaten alone but together they provide a powerful one two punch of healthy eating.

Bacteria need water to grow and the sugars in honey attract water thereby depriving bacteria of the type of environment that allows them to thrive. This helps strengthen the immune system and helps protect the body from bacteria and viral attacks. Honey has many vitamins and iron and when used regularly helps to strengthen the white blood cells which fight bacteria and viral diseases.

With all that honey can do for the human body, it is important to remember that honey is not recommended to be given to infants under one year of age. Honey contains spores that can produce toxins in the infants' lower bowels since their intestinal bacteria are still developing.

Cinnamon has anti-clotting and anti-microbial actions. It also helps control blood sugar and boosts brain function. With calcium and fiber as natural ingredients, cinnamon not only helps protect again heart disease but also improves colon health.

Mix these two healthful ingredients together and what can they do for you?

HEART DISEASE-A paste of honey and cinnamon powder applied to bread and eaten regularly for breakfast helps reduce cholesterol. Eating this combination regularly has been found to strengthen heart beats and relieves the loss of breath often associated with heart disease. It is believed that honey and cinnamon revitalizes arteries and veins to produce these benefits. Cinnamon acts as an anti-inflammatory food.

ARTHRITIS-One cup of hot water with one tablespoon of honey and a half of a teaspoon of cinnamon powder before breakfast helps relieve the pain associated with arthritis. This can also be used as a paste mixing one tablespoon of honey to two tablespoons of lukewarm water. Add a small teaspoon of cinnamon powder to make a paste and massage it onto the affected area. The pain should subside within fifteen minutes.

BLADDER INFECTIONS-Drinking two Tablespoons of cinnamon powder and one teaspoon of honey in a glass of lukewarm water helps destroy germs that commonly cause infections of the bladder.

TOOTHACHE-A paste of one teaspoon of cinnamon powder and five teaspoons of honey applied to an aching tooth helps alleviate the pain, usually within minutes. This paste can be applied up to three times a day until the pain subsides. With its antibiotic properties
