Poetry: Storms

I was sailing into the dense fog.
Night descended.
The sky darkened,
Giving way to an endless storm.

I chose to stay.
Not sure why.
Waves upon waves.
Pushing me closer to the rocks.

Fear surrounded me.
Hopelessness abounded.
Needing just a glimpse of light
Then . . . the calm arrived.

I throw in the anchor.
All is quiet now.
Daylight looms on the horizon.
Peace surrounds me.

For you, my calming partner,
have arrived to rescue me
