Enlightenment
What a hollow thing,
this thing enlightenment,
to feel the sting
of your own acknowledgment
what more than pain
does enlightenment bring
by your own mind, slain
by this terrible thing
of knowledge comes pain
of wisdom comes sorrow
of ignorance slain
is there a better tomorrow
ignorance is fear,
yet enlightenment is
an effect of courage,
which is better fear, or pain?
