Singed Wings
Winter chills could never come close
To the frigid words you whisper,
And Vesuvius cannot rival
The hatred burning in your eyes.
Yet, like the proverbial moth,
I glide back to the flame,
My singed wings testament
To my heart's stupidity
As I long for that which you deny.
