The most unusual places to get married in Atlanta

Atlanta brides-to-be have literally thousands of wedding venues to choose from for their special event. They already know the booming metropolis has some of the most fabulous hotels, historic churches and perfectly manicured resorts in the country. There are garden settings all over the city to rival the scenic beauty of an English countryside.

But what about the Atlanta couple looking for something less traditional? Or the bride and groom who march to their very own distinct drumbeat? They think of themselves as anything but ordinary and want their big event to be as out of the ordinary as possible. Naturally, Atlanta, with everything it has to offer, has answers for couples who want to guarantee a memorable wedding!

No one will ever forget a wedding ceremony overlooking the famous baseball diamond at Turner Field, home to the Atlanta Braves. Yes, for the couples who love the game as much as they love each other, there's the stunning 755 Club. The state-of-the-art venue will host weddings in style, game day or not. Event planners are on hand to assist busy brides with catering, dcor and all the details for up to 3,000 guests.

Atlanta brides interested in an eco-friendly wedding might consider the only can't-miss mountain setting in the city, Stone Mountain Park. What makes it so unusual is the presence of the gigantic bald mountain surrounded by acres of forest-like greenery and serene lakes. A paddle-wheel riverboat is available to take the entire wedding party out on a cruise for an evening reception. It may be hard to remember it's only a few miles from the heart of downtown Atlanta.

Atlanta's Margaret Mitchell House and Museum may seem somewhat usual at first. That is, until guests realize they are immersed in southern antebellum history. The namesake and Gone With The Wind writer called it home while she penned the book, which is now listed in the National Register of Historic Places in Washington, DC. When guests are entertained by a Scarlett O'Hara look-alike, it should make for an entirely unforgettable wedding experience.

An Atlanta wedding at the Georgia Aquarium promises to be anything but ordinary. Few places anywhere can rival the natural beauty of the water world as a one-of-a-kind backdrop for a wedding or reception. The world's largest aquarium and its catering partner, Hollywood's own Wolfgang Puck, will guide the bride and groom in planning one of the most unusual weddings ever.

For a totally out-of-the ordinary wedding day, Dave and Busters is the place where arcade-loving brides and grooms say, "I do!" The gaming emporium offers it all under one roof: lavish buffets, entertainment and hundreds of arcade-style games for couples who are looking for something different and fun! Event planners say they will customize any wedding package for budgets of all sizes.

Engaged Atlanta couples may want to think twice before they begin to consider out of town wedding venues. A closer look in the city might reveal the perfect exotic or unusual place for a wedding may not be as far away as they think.
