Poetry: I do not cry

by Rebecca Blades

Created on: December 21, 2006   Last Updated: May 14, 2007

I do not cry nor shall I yield,
for any man that strikes at me.

My heart is in the killing field,
my mind has lost all sanity.

No longer can I weep for life,
as I imagined in my youth.

Upon my skin I press this knife,
intent am I to see the truth.

I shall not wail at ties that bind,
my soul's untethered anyway.

Nor am I to abuse, resigned...
I'll live to fight another day!
