The role of parables in the Bible

proclaiming.
Each parable Jesus used was designed to have Christ followers take a deep serious look at their own hearts and service and to see if they were what God wanted them to be. Am Hunter in writing about the Parables describes them as "weapons of war in the campaign between the Kingdom of God and the Kingdom of the devil. The Savior Himself, as Lord of Lords and King of Kings, shines through them"

When we meditate on the Parables of the Lord we need to ask ourselves the question of what is the central truth Jesus is trying to teach in the parable we are looking at? We need to consider the context of the parable and ascertain what Jesus was trying to portray. Jesus never used the parables to teach prime doctrine, but they are useful for illustrating doctrinal truth from else where in the Scriptures. Jesus used parables from every day life to illustrate truth about the Kingdom. He wanted to take the people from where they were to where He wanted them to be. The use of Parables was a powerful tool in the hand of the World's greatest Teacher. He used the method to proclaim many heart felt truths and many common people found meaning and life in what He taught.
