Spirituality is a function of ourselves as body, mind and spirit. It does not come from rules or regulations outside ourselves. We can and do discipline our own selves to the nature of balance. No religious or spiritual group we find can replace our own discipline to spirituality. It is our own personal responsibility as we make this choice in freedom.
While spirit is the base word of spirituality, it does not function on the spirit alone. Our lessons and experiences of life are teaching us through our mind and body as well. Each and every experience we encounter has the capacity to be spiritual. It is a personal choice to allow our lessons to teach us when we accept the lesson and release any pain attached to the experience.
Material focus shows us things. Things die and remain in the material realm. Spirituality is the ultimate journey through many realms of spirit.
Spirituality is about our covenant and connection with the God of our own understanding. There is no spirituality without a higher power in our lives. When we give ourselves over to God we receive the freedom of choices within ourselves as body, mind and spirit.
What do these choices mean to our lives? It means that within each and every experience we can choose to take the higher perspective and live not only for self, but for service to others as well. When we are open and expanding to include others in our universe, we have the freedom of spirituality in all our experiences.
This freedom does not stop our lessons. As a matter of fact, sometimes it appears they come much more to our lives. When we choose spirituality, we know we are guided by a loving presence, God, to solutions that suit us all. There is no need for anyone to be a victim to someone else's experiences. There is only the spirituality of the individual lesson.
When we go into our everyday experiences, at work, at play, at home, we have the capacity to make them about our spirituality. We can think of others in our own lessons, or we can be selfish and greedy with our lessons. The choice is a measure of our own personal spirituality.
It is amazing that the more we open to spirituality for ourselves and others, how much we can grow and be a part of the total plan of life - God's plan for us all. We well fit into life in a whole new and beautiful way as we strive for spirituality as our focus.
When we work with the energies of life we are working in spirituality with the God of our own understanding. He enlightens and guides us to more experiences in spirituality as we accept each and every step. This is the true freedom of spirituality.
