Movie reviews: The Chronicles of Narnia: Prince Caspian

I'll admit it:

I was wrong.

When the initial hype for "The Lion, The Witch and the Wardrobe" started I did not participate in it and, even avoided the movie. Recently it premiered on ABC and I watched it and found myself pleasantly surprised. So when "Prince Caspian" was released I jumped at the opportunity to see it.

To be blunt: The movie was great!

The perfect blending of special effects and live action materials as well as an engrossing and non-predictable plot give C.S. Lewis' book the royal treatment.

Set one year in our time and thirteen hundred in Narnia's the King's and Queens of old return to Narnia to find that it has fallen into a dark ages. With the help of some adorable; but, courageous creatures as well as the dashing Prince Caspian the four must free Narnia without the help of their faithful and loyal master Aslan.

The film works on all levels; the acting, the action, the score, the special effects, and the plot. From start to finish the film does a masterful job of telling a story.

Acting:

Ben Barnes/Prince Caspian: This new actor certainly shows that he has what it takes to support a film. Whereas some new comers often show a lack of engrossment in their roles Barnes does a superb job at BEING Prince Caspian. While his good looks help plenty this guy really can act, as well act in some pretty convincing action scenes. His accent is believable and his nobility and naivety also come across wonderfully making Prince Caspian a completely believable and lovable character. A+

Georgie Henley/Lucy Pevensie: She's back; no doubt she stole your heart the first time and she'll do it again. She's cute, she's smart and a heck of an actress; Henley puts Lucy back in the movie with simple ease. If you've seen the first installment you know that Lucy is smartest one of the bunch when it comes to Narnia, from the beginning she shows a understanding of things well above the others and throughout the film often serves as the voice of reason. A+

Skandar Keynes/ Edmund Pevensie: Keynes is Edmund again; the boyish (sometimes hot headed) king that was the start of trouble in the first installment. This time Edmund seems to have more of a level head than his older counterparts. While the film doesn't dwell on his character much, there is a scene when the heroes come face to face with an old enemy and Edmund most confront old flaws. A

Anna Popplewell/Susan Pevensie: Popplewell returns as a more mature Susan, who we, quickly, see has become quite the warrior. The older characters
