Poetry: Memories

by Thomas Hews

Created on: May 17, 2008

Why can you see, where the differences between,
dreams and memories lie
For a dream is a dream, and a memory must be,
more real than that blissful abyss
When I dream, I dream of love,
as perfection that cannot be replaced
But the memories I have, both of love and of bliss,
are short lived and all end in deceit
Though memories distort, the facts from the truth,
you remember the best and the worst
But the best in a dream, is by far greater than,
that truth that exists in my head
When I think of times past, and the way that we laughed,
I remember the joy in your eyes
But when I recall, the love that we felt,
I feel nothing but hateful remorse
When I dream of you, your milky white skin,
and the feelings I felt come to life
But these feelings are false, and enhanced by the dream,
so they leave me upset and annoyed
So memories may be, a way to recall,
the happy events of your life
Though my warning would be, that memories may be,
no more than just dreams in disguise
