Poetry: Love does not die

by Joanne Mansfield

My Truth

The ocean pulled the wind along
and tugged gently at my heart,

Reminding me of times we shared
before love drifted apart.

We bathed in yellow sunlight
and danced upon the shore,

Like graceful birds, up, up we went
above all others we soared.

But one dark day, a storm caught us
and separate paths we flew,

Who would have guessed
that years would pass,
and I'd still be in love with you.
