I've seen too much of the paranormal in my life to discredit ghosts. Some of my experiences have been good and a couple have been bad. When I was growing up, my family lived in a house that was incredibly haunted. One of the bedrooms in the house was where the last tenant had died of a stroke after having been hit by a car and this room was where most of the hauntings occurred.
The most terrifying experience I had in that particular room was just after my 21st Birthday. One night, up was up until the early hours of the morning, reading. A few minutes after I had turned out the light and settled for sleep, I heard someone stomping down the hallway. At first, I thought it was my Mom as her bedroom was at the top of the hallway and mine ran off it.
Then my door burst open and I saw a black figure stomp over to the head of my bed. Whatever or who ever it was, lent down close to my face, and screamed, "Get out!" Then it stomped back out of the room and slammed the door so hard behind itself it made the walls shake and a picture fell off the wall.
I was too scared to do anything but lay there, wondering if I had imagined it or if it was actually real. I was convinced it was real a few seconds later, when I heard my Mom running down the hallway, then she came into my room, to see what was going on. She thought I had chucked a huffy or something. I couldn't explain to her what had happened, I just told her that it wasn't me.
The next morning, I told her exactly what had happened and she admitted that she heard the bedroom door slam shut and someone stomping into the kitchen, but she didn't hear the thing scream at me. The first thing I did that morning, and under my Mom's suggestion was move into another room, at the back of the house.
Another strange thing that happened to me was when I was living on my own. I had a few friends over one night and we were drinking until late at night. I was rather intoxicated and when they left, I went straight to bed. I woke up in the middle of the night, to see my mobile on my nightstand glowing. I picked it up and somehow, the phone had a message on it that read, 'lock the back door.'
I got up and checked to see if the door was locked and when I saw it wasn't a felt a chill run up my spine. It would have only been a few seconds after I had locked it and when I was returning back to bed that I saw someone snooping around my place through the kitchen window. I just stood there, frozen and sure enough, I heard the person trying to get through the back door.
I truly believe it was my father that had protected me that night. I would hate to think what would have happened if I hadn't woken up that night.
