Poetry: Memories

by Donna Wesson

Created on: May 17, 2008

Yesterday, when the sun stood high in the sky in the month of May,we were outside all day.
There was a time, on Mother's Day we actually wore sun dresses and hats with white gloves.
The root-beer floats, were the best, sitting at the counter watching them be made assuring your float was top grade.

Mr.North let us in his yard to pick cherries all day long, that helped us not to do anything
wrong.Mrs.Douglas organized the summer block dances, so we could do the latest prances.
Neighbors new neighbors, and would call your house and tell your mama on you.Walk through the
door, "Well now, Miss Hattie called, and said she saw you two blocks away from here"."Yes,mama
that sure is true, but I was on a chore for you."

Church picnics, school dances, movies with a cartoon at the movie theater, and good old stories by grand-ma and grand-pa helped provide some great memories.
