Firearms, The 2nd amendment and women

There was a story in the paper earlier this week where an armed man went into a business to rob it; the store owner (a woman) was on the phone with a store owner (a man) a couple of doors down. The woman was unarmed and did not have a carry permit but the man that she was on the phone with did have his carry permit and did have his pistol. He heard the man order the woman off of the phone and told her to empty the cash drawer.

The man that she was on the phone with went over and stopped the robber from shooting the female owner. Although the robber was armed with a BB gun. That BB gun could have been a real gun.

There have been similar stories where the gun has been a 22 pistol all the way up to a 45. Most of the news media will tell you when the robber kills the store owner or manager and not when a person that is a law-abiding and gun toting stops a crime.

Such as the time some years ago when a 67 year old woman was shopping at a department store that had a bank inside it. Three men armed with shotguns came in to rob the bank. The 67 year old grandma had her conceal carry permit and she was armed and went up to one of the robbers and told him and his buddies to drop their guns. She held them there until the police arrived.

The manager of the department store and every one that was there praised the gun-toting grandma for her courage. The news waited until some one came into the store that wasn't there during the robbery attemp to ask them what they thought about a 67 year old woman toting a gun. They did say that she had not only stopped a robbery but maybe she even stopped some murders from taking place.

There are people that say that we need to ban all guns or take the gun out of the hands of the public. I asked one of those people that wants to take the guns away from the public, if they were able to do that who would protect the people. He told me only the police would have guns. I asked him if only police had guns then who would protect the public from the police? The person didn't have an answer.

I have maintained for a very long time that the best type of gun control is everyone straps one on their hip and are taught how to use it.

Most of the police have agreed with me saying if everyone had a gun strapped to their hip, the police would know what they were dealing with.

Law abiding citizens have stopped more crime than the police have and also remember when seconds count the police are only minutes away.
