Poetry: My dear mother

Unconditional

Love not deserved
Love unearned
She gives it to me
Unconditionally

Pushing me then pulling me
Closer to God
A love reciprocated between us two
She sustains me
She holds my heart
Because she knows it's fragile

All I am is because I studied
Her
She is my lighthouse
pointing me in the right direction

Maternal instinct is the fuel
the inertia that drives her
to strive for excellence
I wish I had some of her juice

A true Proverbs 31 woman
Worth more than rubies
More than life itself
Her children arise and call her blessed

Brandon Lee said it best
"Mother is the name for God
on the hearts and mouths
of children everywhere"

Pushing then pulling me
Closer to God
A love not deserved, a love unearned
The love of a mother
She gives it to me
Unconditionally

For Mom on her 70th birthday (and Carrie on her 30 - something)

In the garden where she plants,
    Many things grow.
