Good dog breeds for hiking

When choosing a good breed of dog for hiking there are several things to consider, for example how long you plan on hiking, the area you are hiking in and the stamina of the dog. Hound dogs are one of the best hiking dogs there are.

Most all hounds are in very good shape and can in most cases out hike any person. A hound dog has a lot of energy and can hike in any terrain, they are very energetic and can hike for many hours. Most all hounds thrive on going on an adventure and love exploring new areas whether it be hiking in the woods, rocks, mountains or open plains.

Hound dogs are not just for hunting they also make a great friend and companion. All hound dogs love people and to be with you at all times, hounds are very good hiking dogs because of their sense of adventure. They love to explore, and thrive on wanting to see whats new on or around the next corner or over the next hill.

There are several different breeds of hound dogs, but in most all hound dog breeds they all have the same will and ability to hike in the same manner. The hound dog is very aggressive and strong, they can actually help pull you up a hill with very little or no effort at all.

I myself own two treeing walker hound dogs a male and female and have taken them both on several hiking trips, they both have a great deal of energy and love going on a good long hike. I have hiked in both the woods and mountains, these dogs do not wear out very easy. In fact they have just as much energy when the hike is over as they did when it began.

Hiking with my hound dogs also keeps me in very good physical condition, keeping up with them can sometimes be extremely challenging because of their none stop energy. Hound dogs can withstand heat, rain, snow and most any kind of weather you may encounter when going on a hike, and with their stamina makes the hound dog breed one of the best hiking dogs you could ever have.

Something else to consider is the hound dogs ability to detect any kind of danger of encountering a wild animal such as a bear, cougar, moose etc that may possibly attack you when hiking certain places that have these animals in the surrounding areas you are hiking in,with their keen sense of smell this dog could in some cases possibly save your life.

Over all the hound dog has everything your looking for in a great hiking dog and loves the great outdoors as much as you do. I would recommend this breed to anyone who wants a good hiking partner.
