I love long-term relationship in a married life. There have been debates on which is better, whether a long-term or short-term partner. There are lot of reasons to speak in favor of long-term or short-term life partner. For example, people would reason, "boring" as a point against long-term life partner. But I would say making the married life without such boring feeling by using creative and proactive steps are is in ones hands. There are lot of facets of a married life, sex will not alone make ones life as happy. It is only a part of the married life and never the wholesome one.
My debate against this reasoning of boring is, by changing the life partner one is exposed to more risks in the marriage relationship. For instance, the first life partner if happened to adjust to most of ones lifestyle, then there is no reason to change her/him only because of boring feeling. Because by changing the life-partner, one may be exposed to unexpected behavioral challenges in the new life-partner. Sometimes, it may be difficult to cope up with. Because like five fingers of a hand no individual is alike or even adjust to other thought processes of another individual. Such differences, are the basis of god's creation, and one need to expect such differences.
In a short-term relationship, the basic faith/trust between the couple goes off. There will be always a feeling of mistrust that remain between the partners and as a result of which they will not compromise even small disagreements. When a person has the habit of switching partner, his mind will start seeing the points differences and the moment for next switch. A married life requires a sense of give-and- take, sacrifice and love to have a peaceful coexistance, which will be jeopardised by this unstable mind. When the basic trust not remains, these qualities vanishes.
I would recommend long-term relationship to promote these basic values in a married life. A long-term relationship gives a feeling of security and faith, promotes compromise to small difference in perceptions, develop affection and trust in the relationship. These values will promote peaceful married life, which is the essence of any human life. Short term relationship removes any faith or trust between the partners due to lack of security in the minds of the couple. If one go on changing the partners with the onset of differences in behavior and mindsets, one rarely could come to stability. Without the stability in married life, peacefulness in the minds of the couple is a distance dream. This jeopardises the entire happiness and peace of minds of both partners. At the present age of insecurity in job, economy and all other spheres of life, this instability in married life only pushes one to depression, sorrow and unhealthy habits. With this instability bringing up the offspring is again to wedge a big difference in the mentality of the couple. Switching the partner gives lot of challenging situations with regard to who has to take care of young ones. Next partner cannot be expected to take the same care of the young ones as the original parent.
Hence, my suggestion is to have a long-term relationship, rather than a short-term relationship.
