Whether we want to admit or not, our society is hooked on judging people by the way they look. This seems to be especially true for women. It's sad but true. This doesn't mean that you have to look like a super model in order to be noticed though. This judging of the surface is more for that first time meeting. It gives the person an idea of what the answers would be to the following questions:
Does she take care of herself?
Is she neat and tidy?
Does she have issues that I'd rather not deal with?
Paying attention to how you appear will more likely give the favorable answers to these questions.
Your Hair
It use to be that women washed their hair about once a week. Many went to a salon to have it done. But that was when most women were wearing their hair up and with a lot of curls for good measure. This meant the use of chemical products that would help hold curls tight and keep the hair in place at the crown of the head. A lot has changed since then, yet women are reluctant to let go of those chemicals and, on top of that, are washing their hair every day. Yes, your hair is squeaky clean but in the process, you've exposed the cuticle. It's better to wash your hair about every third day and let it dry naturally if at all possible.
Your Face
I'm sure most of you have a busy schedule that may make you feel that you can skip washing your face either in the morning or before you go to bed at night. Well, you can but don't. In fact, you should use a scrub on your face one of those two times to make sure that you're getting the old cells off and stimulating the new ones. I use an apricot scrub and use a gentle generic soup. After washing your face, be sure to apply a protective moisturizing lotion or cream. There's some good ones out there even for oily skin. It will also make your makeup go on much smoother. Be sure to put some on your eyelids too.
When applying your makeup, start with the neck and move up, always smoothing the makeup upward and inward. This massages the face in such a way to prevent premature sagging. Be sure to apply makeup to your eyelids before any shadow to assure the shadow color you want. Use all makeup sparingly. It's there to enhance your beauty.
Your Body
I think anyone who reads magazines or watches TV knows that in order for your body to look good, you need enough sleep and exercise. Most health professionals will say that seven hours of sleep should be the minimum and twenty minutes of daily exercise is needed to stay healthy.
