Television firstly changes our perspective on reality.
Lets take two characters in love out of a TV show for example.
Anybody seen Buffy The Vampire Slayer. This is the most memorable TV fictional couple for me.
Buffy and Angel.
Every moment they're together, the pain they go through feels so vivid. It is as if we're feeling their pain. The torture that these two fictional characters endured is truly horrific. You feel apart of it.
The effect of the show has not really worn off, you wonder why can't I find love like this? Why does love that these two characters share only happen in fiction? Why?
Well it does help having two highly attractive people playing them. The chemistry between Buffy (Sarah Michelle Gellar) and Angel (David Boreanaz) is ecstatic. The connection and the feeling, it just seems possible I guess.
Sarah Michelle Gellar really portrayed this character to perfection. She seems to feel the emotion that the character would feel.
David Boreanaz made Angel the character he appeared. I couldn't think of another actor that could pull it off the way he did. The pain in Angel's eyes was so real.
There are a couple of episodes that I have seen countless times that can still make me cry.
BTVS: BECOMING PT.2.....
When Buffy has to kill Angel. The first time I saw this......Giving up the one you love with your heart and soul for the greater good, you can imagine that there would have been crying.
I guess watching the show from the very beginning, built up the suspense between the two, what was going to happen? Every moment raising your voice at the TV, 'just kiss already.'
ANGEL: I WILL REMEMBER YOU....
I have seen this dozens of times. The effect still strong. The sacrifices that were made in order to keep one and other from harm... The 2 characters love I'm sure will last forever.
They got to experience true love, love that many of us only dream of..........
Angel when he is suicidal: The confessions that come out of the two how they feel and what they've bottled up come out. How much Angel longs for Buffy and how much they want to be with each other no matter the whole 'losing of soul.'
I never thought the show was as great after Angel left. Seasons 2 & 3 would have to be my favourite. I still enjoyed the others but the relationship between them and the pure love they had for one and other was so moving that when they tried to move on, it just seemed like a vital ingredient was always missing.

When I think of TV couples, there are two phrases that instantly come to mind "sexual tension" and "on-again off-again".

There are so many memorable couples that have taken over our living rooms for years with their very different relationships.
By and large, I watch TV for the characters. A good plot is a pleasant surprise, but not a necessity. In ten years, no one
