You all know the sing-a-long song "How much is that doggy in the window." At least I do and of course it is a very old song.

You know some dogs live longer than we do. I have heard dogs living 15 year of age that means 9 years of our lifetime times 15 which equals 135 years of age. Wow!

Yes, dogs are a man's best friend. Why? That's a good question for anybody that does not know.

Firstly, who is always home when you get home to greet you. Not to mention they do not upset you they give you lots of kisses. Mostly, dogs just want to be patted and fed. That's not a hard thing to do. After they are like humans they need a little attention now and again.

Yes, they've been busy watching the house all day while your at work or if they're lucky they have the backyard to enjoy. It is not easy because the mailman came and maybe the newspaper boy and they don't want any strangers around. They've had a rough day because the cat next door was trying to get into the garbage.

Of, course last night the raccoon was watching outside for the first sign of any food and the dog had to stay up at night and chase the predator away.

First thing in the morning the dog waits for you to get dressed and then say a friendly goodbye to you. You know he will do his job around the house.

As for children, most of them enjoy dogs or want one. Go to the pet store and you will see hundreds of children looking at the dogs through the window.

Of couse, mainly if a person is blind you will know that the dog will direct them and lead them to safety. The dog is the person in charge and is definetely a man's best friend as he is trained by the Institute for the Blind.

Again, these animals are extremely intelligent. They have a great sense of smell, danger, anxiety and hapiness. They always ready to join into the fun and of course will greet any of your friends and family with a big welcome.

As a matter of fact some dog owners have people that only come over to see their dog. That's how enjoyable it can be.

One of the main reasons a dog is a man's best friend is because his owner is always the boss and the dog does whatever the owner wants.

There are so many types of dog food now adays that you don't have to worry about feeding the dog or leaving food and water out when your away.

The only job of course is to clean up the yard after they go out and if you really enjoy your dog you will love to brush his fur and wash him regularly.

Keeping him clean eliminates alot of odors and the dog is much healthier.

You can also get dental bones to help keep the dogs teeth clean.

Not to mention a good yearly check-up is advisable and proper vacinees and dog tags so that your dog doesn,t suffer from those daily walks that you enjoy to take him on.

Mind you some people treat these animals just like humans or maybe better than humans. That is a sign that the dog again is a man's bestfriend.

When you get a dog make sure to name it just like a friend.

If you treat him or her kindly they will treat you the same and sometimes even more when you alone.

Companionship is the best.
