Putting a PC together yourself can be very exciting and rewarding activity. Yes, indeed there are many advantages in doing so. Off course, it is easier to buy a ready-made one from the store but you can save some money when you put together a PC by yourself as you do not have to spend as much money as you will have to if you purchase your PC from the store. The computer store charges you more as it has to cover various expenses like electricity, gas, rental, and transport. In addition, it has to make a profit. The cost of hiring the employee to put together the PC is also included in the price of the PC. When you build your own PC, you do not think of making a profit as your original intention is not to sell it but to use it. Obviously, you don't pay yourself for assembling your own PC.
The PC you purchased may not necessary exactly meet your needs. If you build your one yourself, you will be better able to make one that goes according to your taste as you know exactly what you want.
When you put a PC together yourself, you can be proud of your achievement especially if it works well. You can tell your friends and love ones what you have done, and show off your masterpiece to them. You may also start a website telling the world about your great accomplishment. Many early computer pioneers like Steve Wozniak, the famous co-founder of Apple also built his own PC.
If this your first time putting a PC together, you will be able learn a lot about PCs especially its different components and the purpose of each component from your guidebook. You will know about the power supply unit, the memory card, the CPU, the sound card, the graphics card, and other items that you will put on the motherboard. You will also learn something about the hard drive that is used to store the files and other information. I am sure you will be thrilled if you are looking at the components for the very first time.
When you are putting together a PC, you have to wear anti-static straps on your wrists to avoid the static electricity from adversely affecting the components of your PC. You also have to be careful that you do not damage any components when you are snapping them onto the motherboard. Such requirements can help a person to develop into a more careful and responsible being. You also must know which component to add first. This will help you to have better attention to details which is required in certain jobs.
