This absolutely kills me. The Oxford Dictionary defines sin as 'a transgression against divine law or principles of morality', in which case, if you happen to be a Christian, then I suppose that homosexuality must be considered a sin, since the Bible is totally against the idea. However, divine law and morality are defined by our respective religion and have very little to do with natural law. One of the sayings I remember most strongly from my childhood is this: 'Love is an instinct, and instincts come from God, whereas marriage is a law, and laws are man-made'. By extrapolation, the same thing applies to homosexuality.
No-one, in his or her right mind, wakes up one morning and decides, quite coolly, I am going to be a homosexual. Would any one of us choose to be vilified, ridiculed, isolated, and acted against as a matter of course? Would a woman decide to become a Lesbian so that she could be gang-raped to show her what really matters in this life? Would a man willingly be classed as an outcast, a 'moffie', a 'nancy-boy', 'one of those', and various other pejorative terms? Of course not. Homosexuals are, almost without exception, born and not made.
The act of homosexuality is simply the expression of sexual love as it is seen and understood by homosexuals. They find their own sex to be more attractive than the opposite sex and must therefore seek out those who are inclined the same way - or must cajole, tempt, or force those they are attracted to to submit to their desires. Surely we have to accept that, by extension, these acts are natural.
A most interesting phenomenon is the fact that men, when incarcerated or shut in together on long voyages, tend to become homosexual for the duration of the incarceration. Once free in the world, they revert to normal heterosexual behaviour. This fact is well know, understood, and documented in prisons, and has given management food for thought in situation where miners are sequestered together for long periods, as they have been in the South African gold mines. In fact, in the latter case, it was the practice, in the bad old days of Apartheid, to introduce a trans-sexual to the encampments on a Friday night, because it seems that the miners preferred same-sex to hetero-sex.
Perhaps the answer lies in the fact that we all need love; not just spiritual togetherness, but physical contact with each other, and when the opposite sex is not available, then we tend to turn our attentions to our own sex. This is equally true of many animals, and some are even homosexual by apparent choice. My daughter has a friend whose dog infinitely prefers other dogs to bitches - God knows why. There are many examples of homosexuality in animals, and there are many plants and trees which are capable of changing their sex according to their needs.
Thus we can hardly conclude that an act of homosexuality is sinful. It may be against the teachings we have come to accept; it may be contrary to religious doctrines; in may be non-productive of offspring, but it has been with us since time began, therefore it can hardly be dismissed as a matter of misguided choice (as the Victorians did), and can certainly not be classed as 'sinful'. The only sinful thing about it is the situation in which an active homosexual seeks to force a heterosexual into his or her life-style. But then, there is a very good saying here too: 'Confucius say: woman with skirt up runs much faster than man with trousers down'.

How long, O God, how long will people ask these questions? I need to ask my own question here: What is a homosexual act?
