Poetry: Love unrequited

by Jesse Lagreca

Created on: May 16, 2008

Among the stars

My love is like the moon
To me you're the whole world
You keep me distant cold and pale
While you shine among the stars

You keep me in your gravity
But you won't let me escape
I can not get closer
I can not get away

You gaze off in the distance
And you look right past me
I try to influence you
Through the rocking of the sea

You think you already know me
I don't get a second glance
And I can not live without you
But I haven't got a chance

My love is like the distance
From the moon down to the earth
It is huge and full of power
But it's stretched so thin it hurts

You are my whole world and yet
My love will die too soon
When you wonder where your true love went
You'll see my grave up on the moon
