'Twas the Night
'Twas the night of a lover's moon,
That thou proposed to me.
I only wish we could be together,
I wish that I was free.
Love that I've never given,
Nor have I received.
The pain for me has been too great,
Worthless is all I have achieved.
The father's love I never had,
A heart that will not mend.
I've had it up to here with life,
I wish it would finally end.
A dream that will never happen,
No matter how much I hope.
I've tried so hard to hold on,
I no longer know how to cope.
Always remember the moon that night,
Even when I'm not nearby.
I'll always be in your heart, my dear,
Sweetheart, I love you, goodbye.
