In the Mirror
The mirror reflects what I cannot see,
The mirror reflects what I cannot be,
Being with you is what I wanted the most,
But you see right through me, just like a ghost.
I'm just a reflection in your mirror,
The picture cannot be any clearer,
The mirror preventing any escape,
Still I reach out to you, I pull, I scrape.
With empty hands and a heavy heart,
I grasp for air, I pick apart,
This mirror stuck between you and I,
Answered with failed attempts and tries.
You know I wanted to trust you,
You know that I meant to tell you,
The way I've always truly felt,
But our hand has already been dealt.
Glancing at my cards, two jokers lay there,
The game has been rigged, it's completely unfair.
Looking out from the inside of the mirror,
Defeated and tired, I sit here and stare.
My heart seemed to stop as you looked at me,
As you turned your gaze it regained its beat,
Suddenly I notice you weren't alone,
I guess you let him back in your home.
You just can seem to turn him away,
Even after all the things you say,
You asked for help I've given it,
It's all that I have, it's not a trick.
He raises his hand to do what he does,
But still you think its all just love,
I sit in this mirror staring at you,
As you sit there, your bruises turning blue.
If only you would just tell him to go,
You'll always have me, you wont be alone,
But still I wait patiently in this mirror,
A reflection, our picture has become clear.
I know it's true that love may be blind.
I don't think this is what was in mind,
So stop for a moment and stay here with me,
Set me free, in return you will be happy.
I just can't see why you stay for abuse,
You know he doesn't care, and your being used,
So I'll wait here till the end of time,
Waiting for you to make up your mind.
You know your frown ruins your beautiful smile,
It will get worse if he stays for a while,
Let go of him and forget the past,
If you would our love would break this glass.
Until you do I'm here in your mirror,
Waiting for you to see things clearer,
Because when you decide and finally do,
You know I'll be right here, waiting for you.
