Daydream
We all do it, some of us more than others. Daydreaming; it can take us to places we've never been, show us things we've never seen. The next class you are in, you are bound to see someone zoned out, with their mind in a whole different place. But before you give them a nudge to bring them back, think about the magnificent world they are in.
Ask yourself, "Why as a society do we think so negatively about daydreaming?" Is it because it is associated with not doing anything? Or maybe because it is the stem of laziness? While these statements may be true to an extent, think about this, the last time you caught yourself daydreaming; did you feel relaxed? Did all the anxieties and things bothering you that day seem to drift away? Although it may interfere with schoolwork and more important matters, daydreaming should not be shunned. In fact, it should be embraced. Studies show that it calms and relaxes a person. It also has been shown to improve productivity. While some of us daydream about normal things and tasks we have to get accomplished for the day, some of us daydream about the unbelievable, the impossible. We catch ourselves dreaming about life forms on other planets coming to take over the earth. We dream of zombies and werewolves fighting in the school, or creatures only seen with the minds eye flying all around us. We dream about time travel and monsters and people with a more than normal number of limbs.
To some of us, these dreams can be the bright spot in our day; these dreams can be the fuel of our passion. With every wild fantasy our imagination blooms, the light bulb in our head gets brighter. Our gloomy days suddenly get sunny and our mind is cleared and refreshed, ready for the challenges the world throws at us next.
So the next time you call a daydreamer lazy, "out there" or maybe just plain crazy, think about whom the crazy one really is. Are you crazy for embracing the fantasy ideas you will never be able to experience? Are you crazy for easing your mind of all the anxieties of everyday life? Or are you crazy for not embracing the wonderful thoughts and ideas behind each and every dream?
Let your mind flourish, let your smile grow, and daydream.

Sinking deeper into my dreams.....
Sleep deprived and restless
My eyelids softly close
Blanketing me like a canopy over glistening
Worksong
As I work, half-dead to the call of bare feet in damp earth
or oiled fingers glancing over knotted calves

I saw Lincoln crying, last night, in deepest slumber
My heart ached for him, his tears, so many in number
And although he

Waking up is a silvery blur
Of things that are and things that were
Things that have

Weary eyes are shuttered in a quiet repose,
Consumed by thoughts of the worlds beyond;
Soothing colors and dancing creatures
