Last fall, before the writer's strike almost destroyed the entertainment industry; at least the film side; a friend called and said I just had to watch the new hit show "Gossip Girl". What was my reply? "Sorry, I have a full schedule as it is." She wasn't disappointed. She in fact understood. Both of us are television fanatics. Although we tend to go for the hits that would be underdogs on the main three networks. We like the new CW network. We liked it before when it was just the WB, but have fallen in love with the new look.
It has taken me until last week to succumb to the ever increasing popularity of Gossip Girl. I finally went on-line and found the pilot episode. That was three days ago. I am now one episode away from being completely caught up and I am utterly in love with this show. I am glad however, that I waited until now to enjoy all the episodes. Some of which I downloaded from itunes. Which if not for them I wouldn't have been able to see certain episodes.
First let me tell you that it wasn't easy playing catch up. Have you heard? Well if you are a fan of Gossip Girl, you must have heard. The CW is no longer streaming the episodes of this wonderful show on their website. So, if you haven't seen the latest episode, you are in for a little hunt if you would rather not pay the $1.99 per episode on itunes. But I didn't come here to talk about that. What I came hear to talk about was this show.
I love Penn Badgley. Ever since I saw him on the very short lived WB show, "Do Over"(anyone remember this one?) I have loved him as an actor. Penn plays Dan Humphrey who is a complete outsider to those he goes to school with. He has one weakness though, he has a crush on Serena Van Der Woodsen played by Blake Lively, who we come to know as a very sweet girl with a troubled past. A past she doesn't want to bring up. Serena has been away for almost a year and through events that you will have to see for yourself has captured Dan's heart.
These aren't the only love birds on Gossip Girl. There is Blair Waldorf played by Leighton Meester. Remember that friend that wanted me to watch the show so bad, well I know I haven't seen her in a while, but I swear that Leighton and my friend could be related somehow. She reminds me; in looks alone; of my friend who shall remain nameless. If she should happen to read this, she knows who she is! Anyway, Blair is dating Nate Archibald played by an adorable Chase Crawford. Blair wants to take their relationship to the next level. Watch
