Global warming denial patterns are typical since it's easier to ignore than accept. Denial is also a bit contagious. Someone comes forward with a sound debunk of the claim then those who are frightened by global warming believe it because they want to believe it. Global warming may or may not be as bad as they say but we can't deny the disasters that have been happening around the world.
In just the last two decades, intense cyclones, earthquakes and tsunamis have taken thousands of lives and left thousands more devastated. Mega-storms have ripped across our own country taking lives and destroying property. All regions have experienced changes in the seasons. It even snowed in Baghdad. Something is definitely happening with the climate worldwide.
There are some who believe that the situation developing in the universe is having a profound effect on our planet and the closer we get to December 21, 2012, the worse it's going to get. The sun and planets are lining up with the center of the Milky Way and at the same time, the earth is finishing its wobble and the sun is approaching maximum.
Alarmists are calling it dooms day and dooms day debunkers call it foolishness. Some Christians believe it's the return of Jesus Christ. New age groups believe it's the beginning of a new age of enlightenment. Then others believe it's all nonsense.
Most of the experts who study these things honestly don't know what kind of effect, if any, this galactic alignment will have on our planet. They agree that it has the potential to stir up our climate, but to what extent they don't know.
However, those who choose to put on blinders are the ones who are always caught off-guard when the warning becomes a reality. Even when they see the things that are already happening like the tsunamis, cyclones and earthquakes, killing thousands of people.
Global warming denial has to do with its seriousness and its effect on our climate. However, tens of thousands have died in just the last decade as a result of hurricanes, earthquakes and tsunamis. These events cannot be denied. Something is happening.
Those horrific events could just as easily happen here. People may deny that global warming is the cause, but they cannot deny the fact that something is affecting our climate and it seems to be getting worse. Our winters are getting colder and our summers are getting hotter.
Could we be living in the "beginning of sorrows " that Jesus Christ talked about in Matthew 24?
"For nation shall rise against nation... there shall be famines, and pestilences, and earthquakes, in divers places. All these are the beginning of sorrows. For then shall be great tribulation, such as was not since the beginning of the world to this time, no, nor ever shall be."
Global warming denial patterns are understandable as there's ample evidence and facts to support either side. However, we should not ignore what's happened to the innocent victims of the natural disasters that are sweeping the world and consider the possible threats to our own areas; preparing as best we can to protect ourselves and our loved ones.
Preparing for the body is important, but preparing for the soul should be our first and foremost concern.
"We have eaten and drunk in thy presence, and thou hast taught in our streets. But he (Jesus) shall say, I tell you, I know you not whence ye are; depart from me, all ye workers of iniquity." (Luke 13:26)
Therefore, knowing Jesus Christ is not as important as Him knowing you.
Study His words. They are undeniable. They are life.
