Healthy foods don't have to cost more

Very few of us have as much money as we would like and we are therefore always looking for ways to cut down on spending.The bulk of our income is spent weekly or fortnightly on monthly on food for the family.

In this article I would like to tell you that healthy foods don't have to cost more.You can still buy healthy foods but it is how you choose what to buy and what not buy that matters most

By following a few simple guidelines we can have the same amount of food to eat for less money.Try doing the following homework to improve the value of your dollar.

1.Make a list of items you usually purchased to eat during the month.Circle the following on your list:

All foods not made in your country (overseas made)

All sweets or snacks items

a) Could you have bought the fresh food for a cheaper price than the tinned stuff?

b) Is the same product made locally? If so compare prices before buying.

c) Are the sweets and snacks food necessary? They are often expensive full of unnecessary sweets and calories and low in nutrition.

2.,Make a list of your weekly menu.

a) How many times do you eat meat during the week? Meat is expensive and many people eat more tha is needed by their bodies.A combination of vegetables can be substituted for one or two meals during the week.

b) How many times do you eat during the week? You can eat cheaper by cooking at home then by eating out in restaurant.Bring a lunch parcel from home to avoid buying out.

3. When you purchase meat look at the cost.Do you buy

a) the most expensive

b) medium priced

c) the least expensive cuts of meat

If you buy cheaper cuts of meat,they are still very good nutritionally and can be prepaid to be tasty.Cheaper cuts of meats are usually tougher so they need special preparation to be tasty.

Cook them at lower temperature for longer periods of time.Another way is to cook in pressure cooker before roasting or baking the meat.You can also tender your rough meat by adding a small bit of grated or mashed green papaw to the meat and leave to soak for 45-60 minutes.Then cook as usual.

Besides saving money,using left over can save your time in the kitchen.

Just try those tips out I am sure they are a much cheaper ways to a good health of the whole family.To survive in this tough economic situation cut down on food spending.You can still survive on the same amount of food but for less money. Why not?
