Service to the World That Benefits You
Every military has its own motivational recruiting motto. I'm sure you have heard them all. Lets see, Army of One, The Few and the Proud, Accelerate Your Life, Aim High, and A World Of Challenges. There has never been a better time to join a military service. Yes the military is inherently dangerous. So is driving a car on the highway. The reality is the military extremely safe, given the dangerous role of purposely going into deadly situations. The real truth is the military has more vocations that support fighting, than there are the few jobs that directly involve fighting. Very few military forces can really claim to be at the tip of the spear during a conflict.
Yes there is a military type service is for everyone. If you can think of a civilian job, there is that same job in the military. The military will train you for that job free of charge. As a matter of fact they will pay you while you do the training. The military has plumbers, electricians, truck drivers, doctors, lawyers, airplane mechanics, cooks and things you might not even ever considered.
Okay life in the military can be tough, but so is anything worth while. You can compare notes with your friend who wants that minimum wage job as a beef patty preparation specialist. You can tell him that you saved several lives and helped restore order in the world at your job site. Tell him, just switch on the television and watch me make history baby! I'll see you at the drive thru.
The starting salary for enlisted personnel is about $16,165.00 a year, plus special pays and is tax free in a combat zone. If you have a college degree and you are accepted into an officer program you can make $30,668 annually plus the special pays. Some job specialties also receive large monetary bonuses. It may not seem like a lot money, but most of it you get to keep since the military also provides their world famous luxury 3 hots and a cot.
You want your advanced education paid for by Uncle Sam? The military provides that benefit during and after your service. During your service you can receive educational assistance funds for approved college course. Most bases have mini college campuses. So when, and if you leave the service you already have a step up. Nothing like starting your new career debt free.
I am going to speak from the heart of my 21 plus years of experience in the U.S. Navy. I would not have missed it for the world. I traveled the world and saw things and places that only a few people ever witnessed. I witnessed the primitive lives of South Pacific island people and the most advanced machines modern man has produced. I've meet kings and helped people so poor that we were their last and only hope.
The military is so much more than you can imagine. It is made up of people with a serious goal, to defend that special document signed by our forefathers in 1776. The U.S. military has a proud tradition of being the best in the world in both combat and caring for those who can't defend themselves. The U.S. military is commonly first to fight yet also first on the scene to help those who need it.
Yes I think the military is for everyone. During my years of service I met every kind of person you would meet on the street in any hometown U.S.A. I mean that's where we all come from isn't it after all?
Let me ask you these final questions. What would you do if you wanted to do something that meant the world to someone? What better way of showing it, than stepping into the world and showing what the world means to you? It is after all a service that benefits you and I. See the world as a part of it, not as a tourist along for ride.
