You may want to schedule several years' vacations in Mammoth Lake, once you discover the gorgeous scenery and lodging available. Where to begin? Hop onto the night shuttle and take a starlit ride up to the Mammoth Mountain Inn. For early risers the inn features a brilliant sunrise for your enjoyment before you sit down to breakfast at the Yodler Restaurant or the Mountainside Grill. Three buildings comprise the Mammoth Mountain Inn and these are divided into condos and suites. Snugly situated within easy reach of the slopes, you can head on up the hill of your choice and send the snow spraying on your way down. Afterward, retire to the Dry Creek Bar, or step back on the shuttle for a night of shopping, dining or sightseeing.
Feel a yearning for a little taste of Germany at the foot of Mammoth Mountain? Make reservations at the Austria Hof Lodge. Take the edge off of your appetite in the Alpine Restaurant, with a menu adding just the right touch with its unique German entrees. After dinner, take stock of the options provided for your entertainment. In winter you can hop on one of the 30+ chair lifts and choose a hill that corresponds with your ability on the slopes. In the summer their are an array of activities to choose from. Golfing, fishing, hiking, boating and horseback riding are within easy reach of the Lodge. Be sure you are back in time for happy hour each day in the Cellar Bar. Then hop on the Gondola to soak up the nightlife in the village or simply dissolve in the jacuzzi under the mountain sky.
If you are not a skier, or simply like to meander through the streets, Take a room at the Alpenhof Lodge. You may choose from elegantly simple lodge rooms to deluxe rooms where you can toast your toes (or marshmallows) before the fireplace. For the more independent traveler, there are cottages complete with a full kitchenette and privacy all the way 'round.
