A Memorial Wreath ~
A poetic wreath I weave today
For those who've gone before us.
Come join me now - become a part
Of this memorial chorus.
We honor those who served us
And to whom we've said farewell.
Now that they're gone, it's up to us:
Their stories we must tell.
Our lengthy roll-call wraps around
The globe and back again;
Including every language,
Gender, rank and shade of skin.
Some died while fighting battles,
Others sank with ships at sea,
Because they died while serving,
Remember them with me!
Consider what they meant to you,
Then smile or shed a tear.
Look back upon the time you had
With those you counted dear.
Then let's join hands around the earth
All those who've taken part,
In weaving wreaths this holiday:
True memorials - from the heart.

Poetry: Memorial Day
Brave young sergeant
So young, so beautiful
It's the night before deportation
And he's thinking hard.
Brave young wife
So young,
DRESS BLUES
His uniform, it gathers dust,
And yet she keeps it, as she must.
For since she heard the word, bereft,
It's all

Come join me now - become a part

Standing on the hill
Overlooking the cemetery
The many tombs embellished
With red, white and blue emblems
Stand in eternal

Memorial Day Sonnet
If Liberty means anything to me,
I will remember what my freedom cost,
By those who gave their all to keep
