is a rocky headland (Harpooner's Rock) and old fort and treacherous Devil's Beach, after which there stretches wonderful Ipanema Beach that merges into Leblon. You can wander for hours, paddling here and there and get a bus back.

Take a morning bus to the Botanical Gardens ... Jardim Botanico ... and immerse yourself in a tranquil setting of tall palms and 7000 varieties of plants, with lakes and fountains and hothouses full of orchids and cacti.

Don't forget the flowers of mineral kingdom for these are more permanent. Amethyst, citrine, aquamarine, emerald, multicolored tourmalines, blue and golden topaz are gems much in evidence in Rio shop windows.

Brazil is the main source of many precious stones. Two major gem and jewelry suppliers vie for the tourist trade .... H.Stern and Amsterdam Sauer and both have a network of shops in Brazil and around the world. You can drool over their mouthwatering displays of gems and minerals in their many Rio hotel lobby outlets. At Copacabana stores, if you show interest, you'll get invited to see their Gem Museums and gem cutting works, located at Ipanema, being delivered and returned by chauffeured loumisine. Great service and fantastic merchandise!

Rio de Janeiro is a dream destination for the tourist. Known as "The Marvelous City" it can be enjoyed by all, both rich and poor. Rio uplifts you to greater happiness.
