The Duty of a Soldier's Wife
I salute our flag
With my oven Mit
Changing diapers to the sound
Of freedom's wit
Serving my country
Proud and free
Wearing yellow ribbons
For all to see
No matter the cost
Through triumph and strife
I'm proud to do my duty
As a soldier's wife
The uniform I wear
Are jeans, dresses and heels
My goals bring life
With no motive to kill
I communicate information
Of love and promises kept
Honoring other's lives
With the tears I've wept
Though he's there and I'm here
We do our duty as one
Rising at dawn
Til' the day's work is done
Even in his boots
My feet may not fit
And his ACU's
are a far cry from it
Still I serve
Bold and true
Forever in honor
Of the red, white and blue
He may be on the front
But I'm not left behind
I simply do the duty
That keeps his peace of mind
The house is kept clean
The children are fed
Reading Dora and Spiderman books
Until it is time for bed
Sharing my heart
With others one in the same
holding our heads high
Being without shame
Ask me and I'll say
Of course it's true!
I too serve this country
the red, white and blue
Washing and cooking
Singing songs at night
This is my way
Of winning the fight
No matter the cost
Through triumph and strife
I'm proud to do my duty
As a soldier's wife

Take a walk in my shoes.
Experience one day in my life.
See the anguish, the exhaustion,

Here inside this body
Lives a ME that no one knows
A ME that's hard to understand
A ME I haven't chose
To be bitter and misgiving
Is
The world on my shoulders, a smile on my face
The girl in the mirror is hard to embrace
I'm a mother of three, yet I tend to

A day in my life
A sky of often-grey
A never-lifting cloud
An endless fall of rain
A bout of shining sun
Playing peek-a-boo
