Weekend breakfasts just wouldn't be breakfast without pancakes, waffles or my favorite French toast. Pancakes and waffles are made with a batter, but French toast is bread cooked with a little egg and milk. So, how in the world does it taste so good?
The answer to that question won't come from me, but I have an amazing recipe for French toast that will have you wondering the same thing.
For two servings of French toast, you will need:
Four pieces of bread
Two eggs
A dash of milk
Vanilla
Cinnamon
Heat a griddle with a little oil spread on it over medium heat.
In a pie plate or large bowl, whisk the egg, milk and about a teaspoon of vanilla. Soak the bread, one slice at a time, in the mixture before placing on the hot griddle. It really doesn't matter what type of bread you use. Some people say to use stale bread, but I just use whatever kind of sandwich bread I have around the house.
Sprinkle a very light coating of cinnamon on the wet side of the bread. When the first side has browned, flip and brown the other side.
I love my French toast with butter and a little powdered sugar, but syrup, jam or peanut butter taste great too!
