Skoal!, California style! You simply cannot miss the annual Mammoth Festival of Beers and Bluesapalooza, even if it's just because of the name. 50 microbreweries from around the U.S.A. will be contributing their wares to this fun and sun-filled event, which takes place Friday, August 1st and Saturday August 2nd. Take a hike to Sam's Wood Site for a tasty brew or two, and enjoy the music.
Some of you will, inevitably, have children in tow. Fear not! Mammoth Lake has just the thing to catch their interest - The Children's Fishing Festival. The California Department of Fish and Game (DFG), together with the Mammoth Lakes Visitor's Bureau will be hosting the 15th annual 'Passport Trout Fishing Contest'. This takes place July 29th on Snow Creek Ponds in Mammoth Lakes. This is for children 15 and under.
Now for the event that will entertain the entire family, no matter how hard Aunt Eva is to please or how much brother John loves to whet his whistle. The 39th annual Labor Day Festival of the Arts takes place August 30th and 31st of 2008. For no entry fee you can wander around a Native American Village, ogle over 100 arts and crafts booths containing both contemporary and folk craftwork. Don't rush, you've got two days to sample the gourmet food, participate in wine and beer tasting opportunities and listen to the popular bluegrass bands. This is one occasion you and yours do not want to miss. Two days of excellent food, entertainment, arts and people-watching all under one roof: the California sky!
