Songs: Babies

Mumma holds you up to me
I'm a new mother, I should be happy
But that hair, those eyes
I scream and turn away from you

Please don't hate me
I try to love you, I really do
But golden curls and eyes of icy blue
You look like him
And I remember

I'm only fourteen
And the pain is still too near
You're your father's daughter
And I'm afraid of you
It's not your fault I know
But your hair and eyes
Belong to that bastard too
You're not the one
Who made me freeze with fear
You're not the one
Who made me shed so many a tear
Your touch doesn't hurt me
But every nightmare I have
Your face fades into his

You're soft and warm
In my arms
But I remember the burning pain
I feel again
His sweat caked all over me
Your coos are so sweet
But his laughter told me my defeat
Your tiny little hands
Stroke my cheek
But I feel the pain of his slaps
Oh the agony

Don't think badly of me
The similarities
I try not to see
My love for you
Is newfound
My terror of him
Is truely profound
Honey, please understand
He hurt me so bad
I was just child
And he was past twenty
So tall, so scary
His hands running all over me

Sweetie, please understand
You're my daughter
But you're the daughter
Of that bastard too
