You have to have shoes to go with that beautiful Prom dress you picked out, right? Of course; and you could always use another pair to add to that collection. With a few helpful tips and hints, you might even keep those shoes on longer than the first few minutes.
You want to make sure the shoes go well with the dress, but bringing your dress with you might not be a good idea. You want to make sure that they look good together, but what if something happens to that dress? Your shoe quest is over before it even began. Instead, bring a clear digital photo with you. If when you get home, they don't seem to work quite the way you wanted; you can always return them.
Color is important when choosing shoes, so make sure they go with the dress. If you are wearing black, don't buy or plan on wearing brown shoes. Try to stay away from a pair that is the same exact color, unless your dress is all black. Instead, choose a color that is used in your dress, but not the main color. Such as, you have a black dress with hints of silver; go with a shoe that is silver in color. If on your quest you can't find anything suitable, try a pair that can be dyed to suit your needs.
Comfort comes a close second, but should be first. Heel height is one of the first things to consider. If you can't walk in stilettos, don't buy them. Walk around the store in a few different heights so you know what you can stand to walk in. You also don't want heels that are too high to where you are standing taller than your date.
Always consider purchasing a pair of insoles. They are made to feel like you are inside a pair of sneakers nowadays, so you have the right comfort with the right look. But don't just buy any insoles; make sure that they are made specifically for the type of shoes you are wearing.
Would you like open-toe or closed-toe with your dress, ma'am? If you don't plan on getting a pedicure, or doing one yourself, don't go with open-toed. But if open-toed is what you want, plan on making foot moisturizing and callous removal a ritual well beforehand. You don't want to draw attention to your feet if they don't look good. Get that Pedi!
Break those shoes in! Don't wait until D-Day to start wearing those shoes. Most of the time when we wear heels for the first time they are uncomfortable, take the time once a day to wear them and break them in, your feet will thank you for it.
Unfortunately, we all spend all that time looking for the right shoes, and never wear them for the whole night; never mind ever again. Try to make your purchase worth it, something that you will wear again, because they look good and comfortable; so you don't waste a dime.
