I guess I haven't been paying attention but when I first heard about all of this Miss USA scandal I under the impression that the girl, Tara Conner was only recently crowned. It turns out she is in her eight month of her year long reign. After days of watching her strut in her bikini on the runway ( the news people showed it almost as much as they said the name Barack Obama ) the Donald ( Trump ) finally held a news conference. And it was of Presidential proportions. Even taking questions, both Donald and Tara. In fact, if it was the President, they would have cut away after a few minutes and said, " That was the President talking about North Korean nukes"! But they didn't cut away from this press conference. Gotta hand it to the Donald. He sure knows how to milk the media. He played them like an expert bass fisherman, slowly giving them more line, then reeling in a little. And repeating all this until the actual grand news conference. The Donald then announced that after much contemplation, he has decided to let Miss USA keep her crown.

The offense it seems was too much New York City type partying. Tales of drug and drink and also of leading a Miss teen USA astray. Not only with drink but there was a supposed hot girl on girl kiss between the two Queens. Rumor also reported men coming to the Trump supplied penthouse of Miss USA at all hours of the day and night. If you have seen this woman you wouldn't be too surprised. She is a real beauty, just turned 21 this past week in fact. That alone made me wonder why Trump doesn't have an age limit for these contestants. After all, the winner will be thrown into the fire and would need much maturity to deal with such a lifestyle change. Thats where the scandal has focused. The girl was underage at the time of all this.

Regardless, Tara Conner has agreed to go into rehab and the Donald has said she will be the comeback kid and become an even better role model for young women. One can only hope. Lets look at the real winners here now. First, the Miss USA pageant will ride this wave into the 2007 event four months from now. There will be updates and more updates on Tara's condition. The free publicity that the Donald has gotten has made him a big winner here too. But the Donald never loses, does he? His Solomon like justice has also shown him to be the power he is and also paint him in some kind of warped compassion light. Forget he and the rules he made has put an underage girl in harms way. Shouldn't he have had her chaperoned? I think he could have afforded it. Then there is Tara Conner herself. Assuming she has learned from all this and straightens herself out, she has become a recognizable name now. She has gotten more press than Lindsey Lohan and Paris Hilton combined this past week. How often does a Miss USA stay in the limelight. And as I said, this is a stunningly beautiful woman. I'm sure more than one producer has his eye on her. Really, the only loser here was second in line Miss California, who thought she would become Miss USA by default and even she got some press. So I guess everybody's happy.
