We all have to be alone on occasion. Some of us like this state of affairs more than others. For those who are bored and don't really like to be alone, here is a list of things to do to make the time go by faster.
The Internet: If you have a computer available, you can while away many hours online. Look up information you've been wondering about, go to chat rooms, make a blog, find delicious recipes, and such. Another great thing to do online is find discussion boards or forums. You can meet interesting people and learn all kinds of information from these type sites.
Read: Reading a good book is a great way to pass time. Go to your local library and check out one of your favorites, sit in a quiet place, and just relax and let the story take you away.
Puzzle books: You can find these at almost any store. They have numerous kinds available. Pick the one best suited to your ability and get the brain cells going.
Write letters: If you've been meaning to get in touch with someone, write them a letter. It may not be as popular as it used to be, but most people still enjoy getting a letter in the mail from a friend or loved one. If you wanted to make a lot of people happy you could get some postcards and send them out. You can reach out to more people because the postcards and stamps are inexpensive.
Take a bath: Get the candles out, turn the water to hot, and soak in a bubble bath. This will not only use up some time, but will help with stress relief. You can combine this one with reading a good book and make it even more rewarding.
Call someone: Call up a friend or family member and just have a casual chat. You know your Mom would love to hear from you, so this is always an option.
Find a hobby: Pick out something that you've wanted to learn to do and peruse it. There are all kinds of hobbies you can take up. Go to your local hobby store and look around. You could do jewelry making, model cars, scrap booking, make t-shirt, etc.
Exercise: This is a great idea for when you are alone. Get an exercise tape and make the time worth wile, go for a walk. Make sure to pick a safe place for walking!
Media: Find some show you like on television, or rent a movie, get the popcorn out, and relax for a few hours.
Meditate: Learn to meditate or do yoga. It is a great way to help you relax and take away the stress from the day.
As you can see, there are lots of things you can do to make your alone time less boring. Pick a few of your favorites from the list and switch them around so they don't get monotonous. If you find something to do that you enjoy, you will learn to love, and look forward to, your own company.
