I don't know exactly when it happened, or even who started it. But it seems to me that our current U.S. Leaders are way out of touch with the lifestyles of common Americans.
I am very disenchanted with gas prices, (as are most Americans) and I understand that this is a world-wide issue. We are told that congress has investigated the oil companies, because of their huge profits and seeming lack of refinery upgrades. But from what I have read and seen, those investigating are taking the face value of the responses they get from these companies.
For example, when asked "what are these huge profits being used for?" the oil company representatives answered, "research on alternative fuels". Now, I'm no big business Mogul, or highly educated PHD, but wouldn't that answere seem a bit strange to you? Look at it this way, if you were raking in unlimited amounts of money that are all profit, would you use that money to find a product that competes directly with the product you are currently making so much money from? Nope, me either.
Lets get real! These guys are not going to find the solution, unless they can snuff it out before it gets anywhere.
Anyway, this is just the tip of the iceberg. There are tax issues with fuel costs, there are refinery issues with fuel costs and there are federal reserve issues with fuel costs, not to mention the price of a barrel of foreign oil.
So now.....with all this in mind....here is an original poem for you enjoyment that might just shed some light on this issue.
Twas the day before price rise, and all through the town,
All the people were angry, and wearing a frown.
The stations were going to raise gas again,
'Cause suppliers were greedy, and gave them a grin.
The big oil giants, said barrels went up,
So it's all up to people to pay at the pump.
And last year they told us the storms were the cause,
The year before that, twas refinery flaws.
They say by the summer the price will still rise,
This now comes to all of us, as no surprise.
The wages the same, but the prices go high,
The big oil giants just turn a blind eye.
They tell us the profits are finding new fuels,
And they think that we all are just non-knowing fools.
I'ts time that we sent them a message they'll hear,
Lets slow down the shipping, the driving and snear.
If they think that we're stupid, they don't have a clue,
We'll rise up and cost them some millions or two.
So now I am asking for everyones call,
To stop these gas prices from killing us all.
