Tips for buying a prom suit

Most high school girls spend weeks looking through clothes racks at many different stores before they find that perfect prom dress. They spend hours with their friends and their moms trying on dresses. They do all of this for the mere purpose of taking their date's breath away.

Being one of these former dates I know how little time most high school boys put into picking out what they will wear for the prom. In most cases they will go to the nearest tuxedo rental shop and spend a maximum of an hour picking out what they will wear. They will have little or no guidance picking out what they will wear. They will come back to pick up the tuxedo the day before the prom. They will have to return it the day after. To wear this suit for one night they will spend $50.00-$100.00.

Here are some tips for picking out the right suit for prom and getting your money's worth.

When possible buy instead of rent. It may be half as much to rent the suit instead of buy it, but if you buy it you can wear it multiple times.

If you are going to buy your attire instead of rent it, you have more choices. You don't have to wear a tuxedo to prom. A nice black suit can look just as nice as, as or even nicer than a tuxedo. You can dress up the suit with the vest and a bow tie and most people won't be able to tell that you aren't wearing a tuxedo.

If you are going to buy your attire, the benefits of getting a suit instead of a tuxedo is that a suit is more versatile. It is very easy to dress up a nice black suit. It is equally easy to dress down a nice black suit. It all depends on what you wear with it. A black suit can be used for various occasions. You can wear it to prom, to church, to weddings, or to a job interview. Wearing a tuxedo to places other than prom will get people to stare, but not in the way that you want.

If you are set on getting a tuxedo for the dance instead of a suit, it is also a good idea to try and buy one instead of renting one. Especially if you are a freshman, sophomore, or junior who doesn't have sporadic growth spurts. If you buy a tuxedo as an underclassman you can wear it at next year's prom or the year after. Many times you can find good deals on-line or at sales.

It is always a good idea to have a nice pair of dress shoes. Whether you like round toes or boxed toes, heel or no heel, loafers, lace ups, or boots make sure that you polish them before the dance. You may not think that people notice your shoes, but a pair of scuffed up leather shoes will degrade your
