Mistakes are one of the very few things that every single person on this planet has done. The fact is, no one is perfect, honestly I believe most people are far from perfect. Mistakes are common, but why do they occur so much? I believe it is a psychological issue where people want to achieve perfection, however they may not know what perfection is. It is like going through a random maze to solve a problem and say you go left instead of right, when the solution to the maze is to go right, therefore you just made a mistake, but it was practically inevitable, the odds of you going through the maze without making one mistake is pure luck. It is that unknown factor that forces people to do the wrong thing, sometimes on purpose or sometimes by accident.
When solving problems of any sort, people tend to overthink things in order to stay perfect, which sometimes may contradict your original thinking. For example: if you're about to quit your part time job and you and your bosses relationship is in the gutter, but you need a good reference from him in order to land a better job, there are many ways you can make mistakes by overthinking the situation, instead of just doing your job, you want to impress your boss even though he is the last person on earth you would like to make happy, so you think of something where you can create a win win situation for yourself, which could end up being costly and creating more mistakes.
A lot of mistakes have a common factor, and that is (in a lot of cases) your selfishness, if people wanted to reduce the mistakes they make, try helping someone else and putting yourself second, this way a mistake won't be as destructive because your main goal was to TRY and help someone. We make mistakes to learn, if your helping someone out and make a mistake, in the end your solution to the mistake is what helps define you as a person. Being selfish causes all sorts of mistakes, if the world was all about yourself, there wouldn't be a world at all because this world is made for everyone.
Learning is the main idea though, without mistakes it would be practically impossible to learn because you do not know what is wrong, or what is the most efficient way to solve a problem. Do you think the world would be at this place in time, without mistakes. Mistakes are what make the world beautiful, would the leaning tower of Pisa be such a beautiful site if those engineers didn't make a mistake while constructing it one soft soil? Nobody is perfect and that is the way the world should be.
