Verse:
Cindy Jane, Cindy Jane,
she looks in her closet,
doesn't know what to think.
Evidence of the life she's led
stares blankly back at her.
She tries to rearrange it
but there is no use.
The past has gone,
and it can't be changed.
All that's left are the bones
of the girl she once was.
Chorus:
And she's running____
against the wind.
And she's running____
away from him.
But she can't let go,
staring out the window_____,
seeing his face
plastered all over the place.

Verse:
Cindy Jane, Cindy Jane,
she looks at her bed.
It's as unkempt as ever.
She stares longingly at the sheets,
wants to pull them
over her head,
and hide forever.
And hide___ forever___
in this mess she's made
that can't be cleaned.
The debris will live on
and on.
Chorus:
And in her dreams
she's running____
into his arms.
And in her dreams
he's stunning____,
winning her with his charms.
But she can't let go,
still hears the echo___,
of his soothing tone.
She's never alone.
x2
She believes in a land behind her eyes,
the darkness gives her comfort, sweet comfort,
from all her self-assured lies.
And the torn up pictures make her cry,
along with the letters that say good-bye.
