Intervention...it has become a buzz word in our generation. "A coming together of the forces of love to stand between life and self ordained disaster." Whether or not the message of love is received and acted upon still remains a matter of free will...isn't that essentially what God does on a daily basis? Didn't He send His Son as the ultimate intervention? Hasn't He sent prophets, scriptures, beauty, nature, new life, angels and the Holy Spirit to intervene, give hope, comfort, show us a better way? Because we have free will, God has limited Himself to intervention and not interruption...which personally I sometimes wish He would do. But I realize those are words of frustration, impatience and foolishness that reflect my need for growth.
Make no mistake, God does intervene in the world more often than He is given credit for. But He does it through His creation and His children. When we see things running amuck, we say God isn't stepping in and changing things...or worse, why did God allow this to happen? Too often we forget that we are talking about our Creator. We begin judging God and holding Him accountable for not demonstrating His love or power in a way that we determine. Our frustration, impatience, pain and seeming vunerability blind us to the disrespect and foolishness we exercise when we question God or speak with authority about spiritual things we know little of. Do you know how prayer works...did you see angles that stood between the towers and the church on that dark day...protecting a place of solice and healing for those that would need her shelter in the coming weeks?...If you had the opportunity to see God now, would you let Him know you're a bit disappointed in the fact that He isn't always as flashy as would be easier? I don't thinks so. Lucky for all of us, God is patient and understanding as we seek to learn His will.
Our Creator decided to "partner" with His children, making them in His image, giving us dominion over the whole earth. When we chose to lose that authority, Jesus, by His victory over death, gave it back and gave us dominion over principals and powers above, on and below through the power of His name. As born again Christians, we have the authority to intervene in the world as ambassadors of the Kingdom.
So perhaps the question here is "Why Christians do not intervene in the world more often?". Intervention...the Father's will carried out by His children... through prayer, through understanding the authority Jesus gave to us.
