Nutritional benefits of bananas

Musa sapientum generally known as 'banana' is believed to be one of the first fruits to be cultivated; its beginnings go back to the Malaysian jungles of Southeast Asia. One of the earliest accounts of bananas dates back to 327 B.C. when Alexander the Great discovered it during his conquest of India. In 15l6, Friar Tomas took a sea voyage to the Caribbean carrying the banana roots with him, he planted the roots in the earth, and as a result the banana became part of American culture.

Bananas for the overseas market are cut when they are fully grown; the fruit is green when it begins its journey, quite often the bananas are still slightly green when they reach the shops. The fruit needs to ripen at room temperature, when it is fully ripe it will start to soften, brownish spots will start to appear on the skin.

The fruit can be used to create different types of dishes such as banoffi pie, banana cake, banana split, banana pudding, banana snow, fried bananas, banana custard, and baked bananas.

Bananas contain the highest levels of potassium which can help drastically lower the danger of high blood pressure, heart attacks, and strokes.

This fruit provides a lot of other nutritional benefits such as Vitamin B6 this helps to keep
the nervous system in peak condition, and boosts immunity. The amalgamation of carbohydrates and B vitamins found in a banana helps to enhance energy which makes them fantastic to eat half an hour before a physical training session. One or two bananas make a complete, nutritious meal. The natural fibre in the fruit also contributes to the dietary benefits. The banana gives protection from ulcers, helps lessen water retention, may help to improve moods, and maintains a healthy bowel.
